Hull-based Bio-D, maker of green cleaning products, is offering to help local schools who are considering applying for Eco-Schools awards.
The news has been announced on Bio-D's blog, and the post, by Sara Holtby, lists the nine key topics the Eco-Schools programme focuses on: energy, water, biodiversity, school grounds, healthy living, transport, litter, waste and global citizenship.
Schools taking part first gain the Bronze award, then the Silver, and then... did you guess correctly?... the Green award, called the Green Flag.
Eco-Schools is run in 53 countries around the world and in England it is managed by the Keep Britain Tidy charity. Yorkshire so far holds 96 Green Flags, 311 Silver awards, and 404 Bronze, but at the moment it is ranked seventh out of the nine Government regions. Hopefully Bio-D can help them move up the table.
Lloyd Atkin, the managing director of Bio-D, said: "Apart from the obvious benefits of encouraging children to respect their environment by minimising waste and encouraging biodiversity, the Eco Schools awards give pupils an opportunity to engage with the local community and this is where we’d like to help.
"A member of our team has experience in helping a school to achieve the Green Flag award and would like to offer her help to local schools."
