John Vlahakis, founder of Earth Friendly Products, maker of eco-friendly household cleaning products, is also the man behind the excellent The Earthy Report - a personal blog highlighting a wide variety of environmental issues.

The blog focuses on four aspects of eco-friendly living; energy, green, health, and lifestyle. A recent post highlighted Coca Cola’s attempts to block a ban on plastic bottles at the Grand Canyon; a shocking report that, if it wasn’t for John’s insightful article, I would be none the wiser about.

John has been an advocate for green issues since childhood. As a schoolboy he handed out hand-painted paper bags bearing environmental slogans to motorists, only to be stopped by the police, and then, after taking his campaign to the village board, being allowed to continue.

It was after the birth of his daughter that John experienced an epiphany, re-energising his commitment to the environment. "As I held my infant daughter, I did not want any harm to come to her," he says. 

"I realised that everything that was harming the environment would also be harming her. I felt I had to make a difference for her, to make the world a better place for her. I had to show her that one person could change the world."

And so his motto was born too; "One by one, we can change the world."
