Happy Energy, a green movement from the Netherlands, has come up with a brand new logo which it hopes will become recognised the world over.
The logo features a big sunny flower and a clear blue sky, and it’s got "ok" on it, which, if said out loud in a cheery Dutch accent, sounds very positive indeed.
More "ok" as in "Yeah! Ok! Fantastic, no?" rather than a humdrum "well.... ok."
As Happy Energy points out, there have been many strong and positive symbols over the decades, from the Peace symbol, through to the Smiley face and the Recycle symbol (and even, maybe, Prince’s symbol).
Now it’s time for one that helps promote the united goals of all those, like the people of Happy Energy, who "choose recyclable energy and environmentally aware products, founded on a lifestyle that focuses on the future."
Happy Energy is the brainwave of Erik Schoppen, "a visionary and durable entrepreneur, author, designer, speaker and advisor", Marleen Zoon, founder and chairman of NL2050, a foundation striving for a 100% durable Netherlands by 2050, and Wubbo Ockels, physicist, green pioneer and the first Dutch astronaut!
They collectively see Happy Energy as representing a new culture, necessarily superceding the Industrial Revolution, that "stands for social justice and respect for nature".
Here at Big Green Smile we share their belief that this is no longer a dream, but a realistic goal.
The Netherlands’ first spaceman, Wubbo Ockels, invites you to participate: "Our ‘happy energy’ symbol is like the sun; it’s free and available for everyone."
