Frans Bogaerts, founder of Ecover household cleaning products, dies

by Simon 7. September 2011 14:00

Sad news reaches us of the death of Frans Bogaerts, the founder of Ecover, maker of probably the most well-known ecological cleaning products in the world.

The family announced his death earlier this month at the age of 76.

Ecover’s early products were made in Frans’ barn in Malle, Belgium, where he pursued his dream of making phosphate-free cleaners.

As demand grew so did the need for much bigger premises. By 1992 Frans had sold the business, enabling Ecover to build a 6,000 sq m factory with energy-saving and sustainable credentials.

Now Ecover has factories in Malle, France and Switzerland and its products are available worldwide.

Thanks for starting it all Frans, and rest in peace.
