The Drinking Water Inspectorate announces clean drinking water for all

We're all enjoying high quality drinking water in England and Wales, according to the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

The organisation has released its annual report on drinking water quality in the seven regions of England and Wales and out of two million samples taken 99.96% met the high quality standards set.

As for the remaining 0.04%, the report shows that remedial action has been taken or is planned to be taken.

There has also been a reduction in complaints from consumers, down by a third in the last five years.

Pamela Taylor, chief executive of Water UK, said: "Water companies have invested over £90 billion to improve water and waste water services over the past twenty years.

"This has shown real benefits both in terms of compliance with drinking water standards and also in improving the acceptability of drinking water to consumers.

"The UK has again demonstrated it has among the highest quality drinking water in Europe and the industry will continue to invest in improving drinking water services for our customers."

That’s good news. And here at BigGreenSmile we take our water seriously - from drinking it, to wisely saving water where we can. We also offer a range of products endorsed by Waterwise.

And for a really fresh glass of water, as good as anything from a fancy bottle, why not treat yourself to a Brita Marella water filter jug. Your cat knows it makes sense.
