Energy-saving solar panels fitted for free

Customers are being offered free solar panels, free installation, and free electricity for up to 25 years by renewable energy company EOS Energy.

Houses, small businesses, local authority buildings and community centres are all eligible for this fantastic offer.

So how does it work? Well, as part of the government’s "Green Deal", firms can offer energy saving and energy efficient improvements to homes at no upfront cost, recouping payments in other ways such as the Feed in Tariff (FiT).

If you were to buy your own Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system, setting you back something in the region of £15,000, you would receive the FiT (44p per kilowatt) yourself.

Taking advantage of companies, such as EOS Energy, who are offering systems for free, means you forfeit the FiT to the funder, while still getting all your electricity for free.

Lee Summers, director of EOS said: "Our scheme includes free fitting, maintenance and insurance of the rooftop PV system, with the building occupants receiving all the electricity generated by the system free of charge for the duration of the 25 year period of operation. The occupants also receive a ‘roof rental’ payment if the yield is suitable."

The Feed in Tariff will be harvested by the funder of the scheme, a green funding company investing £20 million in EOS Energy.

Mr Summers added: "We are merely trying to help people that can’t afford a PV system to protect themselves from the anticipated increases in electricity prices, and, of course, to encourage the use of renewable energy."
