Green energy supplier Ecotricity wins ‘Company of the Year’

Ecotricity, supplier of green energy, has been named Company of the Year at the Growing Business Awards in London.

The award recognises world class, independently owned, UK based companies. Previous winners have included LOVE film and lastminute.com.

Ecotricity, founded 15 years ago by Dale Vince, is Britain’s leading green energy company, powering over 55,000 homes and businesses in the UK from its fleet of 53 windmills.

Dale summed up his company’s ethos perfectly when he said: "We have a radical business model where customers are valued, ethical business is the norm, and people and planet come before profits.

"Rather than pay dividends to outside shareholders, Ecotricity uses its profits to build new sources of green energy – it’s what we call turning bills into windmills."

The green energy supplied by Ecotricity can lead to great energy savings elsewhere as their energy is made from renewable sources; electricity from the wind, the sun and the sea; gas from food waste and algae.

So congratulations Dale and your dedicated team. The award must be all the sweeter coming, as it does, only weeks after your previous award, ‘Best Independent Supplier’ at the Energy ‘Buying and Supplying’ Excellence Awards in London. Here’s to the next one.
