Energy saving light bulbs could help households save money on their utility bills, experts have stated.
According to AboutMyArea, light bulbs are likely to be used more frequently now that the nights are drawing in and winter is on the way.
The website has therefore recommended that homeowners reduce the cost of powering their lights by purchasing more energy-efficient bulbs.
AboutMyArea said
energy saving light bulbs use 80 per cent less electricity than standard bulbs and also have much longer lives.
This means that households can save money on their bills and reduce the cost of replacing light bulbs.
"Just one
energy saving light bulb could save you on average about £2.50 a year," it commented.
Meanwhile, Scottish and Newcastle Pub Enterprises has urged pubs to reduce costs by adopting more efficient lighting.
Mike Pope, project and building manager at the group, told the Morning Advertiser that switching to
energy saving light bulbs could save the average pub up to £5,000 a year.
