Jonty Hearnden supports household energy saving

The importance of energy saving measures such as loft insulation has been asserted by Jonty Hearnden.

Speaking to the Yeovil Express, the presenter of BBC One's Cash in the Attic called on householders to check the depth of their insulation, noting that the financial savings which can be made are "incredible".

"The potential savings are worth it," he added.

According to the Energy Saving Trust (EST), almost half of homes in the UK do not have sufficient levels of loft insulation fitted, meaning that residents are spending more than they need to on their fuel bills.

Currently, 49 per cent of houses in the south-west of England are under-insulated. The organisation revealed that if all these properties had the minimum suitable level of insulation, up to 270,000 tonnes of carbon emissions could be cut every year.

This development comes after the BBC reported that a survey from EST found 74 per cent of Scottish residents are in favour of fitting energy saving measures, but are put off by the potential up-front costs.ADNFCR-2539-ID-19537085-ADNFCR
