An authority in London is offering green products to local people to encourage them to help the environment.
Haringey Council is giving out
energy saving light bulbs, various
water saving accessories and other
eco gadgets to homes who pledge to reduce their carbon footprint.
Councillor Brian Haley, cabinet member for environment and conservation, said the authority is keen to boost people's enthusiasm for helping the planet.
"We are already committed to the green agenda, but it's nice to be able to offer residents the chance to use things they have not considered," he commented.
Councillor Haley added that people in the area seemed to be "genuinely pleased" that they had been called on.
Raising awareness of
eco gadgets could be a good way of encouraging more of us to live in green homes.
People who may be reluctant to buy items such as
energy saving light bulbs may become more inclined to buy them in the future if they see how well they work firsthand.
This comes shortly after price comparison site Confused.com advised consumers to contact their local council to see if they are eligible for grants to install green features such as cavity wall insulation.
