Using natural
cleaning products can help to keep the air free of potentially harmful toxins, it has been suggested.
Shellie Enteen, an aromatherapist, wrote for the January edition of Massage Today that chemical-filled goods can contain contaminants which are carcinogenic, as well as endocrine disruptors which can cause numerous potential health problems.
She noted research has revealed that the air within a residence is often more polluted than it is outside, which is partly due to the trapped fumes from these products.
Consequently, Ms Enteen recommended
natural cleaning goods as a way to free the home of these harmful toxins, while pointing out that they can be "simple, inexpensive and effective".
"Those who clean with natural products and essential oils have noticed the difference and get many positive comments. It can even be a pleasure to clean with natural ingredients," she added.
Her advice echoes the view of Alissa Marrapodi, associate editor of Natural Products Marketplace, who remarked that natural
cleaning products can be kinder to consumers as they are less likely to irritate the skin.
