Skin care is essential, says expert

A friend of mine in Canada knows that I'm passionate about subjects such as natural skin care, so she pointed me towards some comments from a leading dermatologist.

Dr Eileen Murray of the University of British Columbia was in the Vancouver Sun warning about the impact of good weather on the skin.

Very timely, I thought, as I've seen lots of people pulling out their summer clothes this week to enjoy the heatwave in the UK.

But Dr Murray said what I've been thinking for ages, about how actual ageing accounts for only a fraction of the ageing of the skin.

She stated that 90 per cent is due to sun damage, which made me think how glad I am that I make a point of buying eco products such as sun block.

"Look at the huge difference between the upper and lower sides of the arm," Dr Murray advised.

"The skin underneath that was not exposed to the sun is smoother and thinner."

I hope people consider buying natural skin care products to ensure they stay safe during the summer months.

After all, no-one wants wrinkles if they can help it, and they certainly shouldn't be running the risk of getting skin cancer.
