Sales of natural baby products are rocketing

Mums are becoming big fans of natural baby products, according to a new report in the New York Times.

Premium baby skin care products, which are made up mostly of natural and organic brands, have increased sales in the USA by 68% from 2005 to 2010, says the newspaper.

Diapers.com, one of the biggest online baby stores in the USA, told the Times that sales of baby skin care products have grown more than 180% in the last three years, with most of the sales coming from high-end natural products.

The newspaper spoke to mums who like to spend a lot on natural baby products for their kids.

Dr Ami Shah Nagarajan, 38, a specialist in integrative medicine who lives in Manhattan, told the Times she spends $150 a month on products for her three-year-old twins.

“I spend more on my kids than I do for myself,” she said. “It’s worth it to me to get something pure for them.”

Zoe Schaeffer, 35, who lives in Los Angeles and has a mothering blog, Macaroon Original, told the newspaper she spends between $150 and $200 every month on natural products for her three children.

She told the newspaper: “It was important for me to find pure and nontoxic products for my kids because I feel like their skin is so new.”

However, here at Big Green Smile we know you don’t have to spend a fortune to find natural and organic products for your little ones!
