Alicia Keys says parenthood has made her a better person

Superstar singer Alicia Keys has been talking about how becoming a mother has made her a better person.

She told Scholastic Parent & Child: “Being a parent has made me more open, more connected to myself, more happy, and more creative.

“I’m more discerning in what I do and how I do it. It’s just made me a better person all the way around.”

The songstress has been involved in a number of environmental and humanitarian charities, including Live Earth, Fresh Air Fund and Keep a Child Alive.

We bet she uses natural baby products and fair trade products for her son Egypt Dauod.

Alicia says she has found parenthood simple. “What’s been surprisingly easy is just how natural parenthood feels,” she told the magazine. “I feel great about how easily I’ve fallen into the role. I love it!”

But she says it isn’t always easy finding the right balance between work and family. “What’s been surprisingly hard about becoming a mom is being away from him,” she says, “and trying to find that magical balance for everything, which I kind of expected.”
