Renewable energy

Renewable energy quite simply is energy derived from natural resources which are naturally replenished.  The UK has a target for 20% off its entire energy needs to be met by renewable energy by 2020, the current level is about 4.5%.  Renewable energy includes the following:

 
Since 2002 energy generation companies have been obliged through the Renewables Obligation to provide a percentage of their power from renewable energy sources. By 2011 at least 10% of electricity should be from renewable sources rising by 1% a year after 2012 for the next 5 years.
