When used in relation to water saving, aeration means to mix the water with air to produce a flow that feels strong while using less water.
An
aerated showerhead will produce a shower that feels just like one from an unaerated showerhead but because much of the flow is made up of air it can reduce the amount of water used from say 20 L per minute to 8 L per minute.
