What makes Burt's Bees natural?

OK, it's easy to say it but what does it really mean? Why are Burt's Bees products natural?

Firstly, natural products are better for you than synthetic versions. Mind you it can be more expensive to extract them than it is to manufacture the artificial ingredients many companies use instead. As an example Burt's Bees uses a natural exfoliant derived from willow bark while other companies use a synthetic version because it's cheaper. That's not a short cut Burt's Bees are prepared to take.

Secondly, Burt's Bees use only natural ingredients from renewable or plentiful sources. And they won't use ingredients derived from fossil fuels.

Finally, Burt's Bees minimise the amount of processing they do to their ingredients while making their products. They say this keeps the natural ingredients natural. It's a good thing in the same way it's good to avoid processed foods and eat natural foods instead -- the less processing you do on natural ingredients the better they work.
