Dri Pak Bicarbonate of Soda is part of the Dri Pak Clean and Natural range. Bicarbonate of Soda is often referred to as Baking Soda (although it hasn't got the raising agents required for baking) and has a number of uses as a natural cleaning product all around the home.

Uses for Bicarbonate of Soda Around the Home

  • Neutralises acid
  • A mild abrasive/scouring agent for shiny materials without scratching aluminium, chrome, jewellery, plastic, porcelain, silver, stainless steel and tin. For a more abrasive scouring action, use Dri Pak Borax.
  • Extinguishes grease fires. (Tip – never throw water on a chip pan fire!)
  • Deodoriser for the refrigerator, carpets, upholstery, vinyl, bins, drains.
  • Fabric softener
  • Removes some stains (use Dri Pak Soda Crystals for more stubborn stains)
  • Softens hard water
  • Not for culinary or medicinal use

So versatile, use it for cleaning the toilet, bath, pots and pans. Mixed into a paste with Dr Bronner's soap it makes a great de-greasing paste which is brilliant at removing soap scum in the bath or tough stains on baking pans etc. I also add a scoop to my towels and sheets in the washing machine to deodorize. And to clean the washing machine with some with vinegar added.

For eco-cleaning of dirty pans and blocked sinks this is all you need with some white vinegar for a totally safe, cheap and entirely ecological solution. Just make sure that you leave pans/drains for 6 hours for the effect of the bicarb and vinegar to fully work. Amazing! And SO CHEAP!

I sprinkle it in my cat's litter tray on top of a basic cat litter and, being alkaline, it helps to neutralise any urine smells. I also put a few tablespoons of this down the kitchen plughole, pour some cheap vinegar on top, leave it for a while then pour some boiling water down to unblock/disinfect it- cheap, effective and more environmentally friendly than the shop-bought products!!

There was a hole in the box so some had leaked out which was a bit annoying. But not a major problem.

I use this product along with vinegar to keep any build up of slimy gunge that collects in the pipes in the bathroom. I leave it to work for a while and then put down a kettle full of boiling water. This works a treat and is much more eco frindly than mr muscle.
