At Big Green Smile we have adopted the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework consisting of 17 goals which form a global call to action to end poverty, improve health and education, reduce inequality while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Sustainability has always been at the heart of Big Green Smile’s ethos and we are already achieving so much. We understand the importance of all the SDG’s but to undertake all of them at the same time would be a mammoth task. So we have taken the decision to prioritise and focus on some of the key goals.
For the purposes of this report we have segmented the SDG’s into 3 categories: Environmental, Social and Governance which together will conclude in the ultimate Sustainable Development Goal.
The environmental category looks at our energy use, our waste, pollution, life on land and in the oceans.
Our product range enables our customers to confidently improve their impact on the environment. And the information we provide, alongside the criteria symbols, not only helps educate customers but to choose products that address their environmental concerns.
At Big Green Smile we are working tirelessly to increase our efforts to reduce our overall impact on climate change with a goal to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2030.
This category covers our commitment to people – covering their rights and wellbeing within the workplace while also considering the interests of the local community.
At Big Green Smile we pride ourselves in having an excellent gender balance within our work force, we provide flexible working options for staff and are committed to developing a talent development strategy.
Wherever possible we use local providers for business supplies and services in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint while helping the local community.
With a focus on business ethics, Governance looks at our responsibilities as a company.
As an ethical business we carry out rigorous product ingredient assessment and checks. We have an early warning system in place to flag any issues or concerns with products or their production.
While continuing to develop these systems and controls, we will continue to look to develop relevant partnerships to ensure we are well placed to evolve with the rapidly developing green market.
