We love it when our favourite products win awards - so it's great that Bio D, maker of eco-friendly natural cleaning products, has won the Green Business of the Year award at the 2011 Chamber Bridlington and Wolds Business Awards.

The company has reached the final for the last four years and in winning this year it can add the award to its recent ISO 14001 environmental accreditation and its Green Apple award.

The award was sponsored by Muntons plc, manufacturers and suppliers of malt, malt extract and malted ingredients, and one of the Sunday Times "Best Green Businesses".

Bio D explain the process to reach the final on their blog where they tell us; "we had to submit a nomination that satisfied environmental criteria including evidence of a green ethos running through the business, evidence of greening core processes like purchasing and offsetting emissions and evidence of a recognised green accreditation."

The award was presented at a black tie do at The Spa Bridlington, compered by BBC journalist and presenter Crispin Rolfe. The guests enjoyed a three course meal and entertainment from "Phil Fryer sings Frank Sinatra".
