Did you know real Christmas trees are more environmentally friendly?
John Vlahakis, the founder of eco friendly cleaning products, Earth Friendly Products, has written an article for his blog looking at the pros and cons of artificial Christmas trees versus real ones. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, real trees come out tops.
John points out that artificial trees are usually made with metal and non-biodegradeable polyvinyl chloride, and, as many are made in China, it’s not doing any of our carbon footprints any good.
On the other hand real trees are now grown using sustainable farming techniques, and, at the end of their indoor festive duties, they are easily recyclable. Or, alternatively, pop it in your garden and then bring it back indoors next Christmas.
As John says: "For a greener Christmas tree go with the real thing, and not the artificial stuff."
