Ecotricity has done the work Ofgem refuses to do, and shown all the energy companies' customer complaints in one, easy to compare, league table.
And guess who comes out best, with only 0.55 complaints per 1,000 customers? Yes, Ecotricity, the company that "turns electricity bills into windmills".
Ecotricity is ten times better than any of the "Big Six" energy suppliers, followed in second and third place by like-minded eco-friendly energy saving companies, Green Energy and Good Energy.
npower had the worst customer complaint record over the last 12 months, while British Gas and EDF Energy have seen a 30% and 40% increase in customer complaints over the past year.
Some of the companies, like First Utility and (perhaps surprisingly) the Co-Operative, didn’t even bother publishing their records.
Ecotricity founder, Dale Vince, said: "The figures show what we all know to be true, big energy companies give poor customer service. We’ve all been there, wading through the endless phone menus, queues and scripted conversations. We think people deserve better."
