Ovo Energy, a green energy company offering an alternative to the dominating ‘Big Six’ energy companies, has been awarded ‘Best Place to Work’ at the Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo Business Awards held in Cheltenham.
Ovo Energy’s founder, Stephen Fitzpatrick, said: "When I started Ovo Energy I wanted to create an exciting and innovative energy company that is a fantastic place to work. We’re extremely proud to be recognised for our dedication to the team. Well done everyone!"
And well done for offering customers energy saving tariffs built around renewable energy.
Ovo offered customers two simple tariff plans from the start (unlike the Big Six who are now playing catch up thanks to pressure from consumers and Ofgem), and both offer more renewable energy than any of the Big Six, with the Green Energy plan offering 100% renewable energy.
Ovo also recently announced plans to ditch a proposed price rise in the New Year, in acknowledgement of falling wholesale gas and electricity prices.
So, it’s not only a good place to work; it’s also a good place to buy your energy. There are many smaller companies out there offering greener alternatives, such as Ovo, Good Energy, Ebico and Ecotricity.
The Big Six can take out their big adverts, and, in light of recent pressure, they are attempting to clean up their acts, but it’s still worth shopping around a bit; you might find yourself saving money as well as energy.
