PUMA makes a 100% recycled energy saving shoe!

PUMA has reinvented one of its classic shoes, the PUMA Suede, as a 100% recycled synthetic suede shoe, called, magnificently, the PUMA Re-Suede.

Modelled on the original Suede, the Re-Suede’s upper is 100% recycled polyester fibres produced through an energy saving process that cuts CO2 emissions by 80%, compared to the production of virgin materials.

The outsole is made from Double R Rice Rubber; a mix of rubber and rice husk filler, saving fossil fuel energy in manufacturing and agricultural resources.

The shoe is also incredibly light, reducing fuel usage during transportation and saving 15 tons of carbon emissions for every 10,000 pairs shipped. And it comes in what PUMA calls its Clever Little Bag; sustainable packaging that gets rid of the need for shoeboxes.

Well done PUMA. Here’s a picture of a cat imitating your logo in celebration.
