A series of energy-saving initiatives have been announced by Audi in a bid to make the company more efficient.
The German carmaker said it has funded the planting of 36,000 oak trees, covering six hectares, near its manufacturing facility in Ingolstadt, Germany.
It hopes that the new forest can help to provide a home for a variety of animal and plant species, while also storing large amounts of harmful greenhouse gas emissions in a bid to balance out the German brand's carbon footprint.
In a statement, the manufacturer said: "It is just one example of the numerous measures the prestige car manufacturer is systematically implementing to conserve resources in both the cars themselves and in their production."
Furthermore, Audi said it will reduce the carbon output of its global fleet by 20 per cent over the next decade.
This news comes after the Confederation of British Industry urged the government to increase its efforts on
energy saving at home and in the workplace.
