Copenhagen talks facing huge barriers, says Gordon BrownHuge barriers stand in the way of an international agreement being achieved at the Copenhagen Climate Change summit, Gordon Brown has revealed.

Speaking to BBC One's Breakfast show, the prime minister remarked that policymakers are facing an "uphill struggle", but added that the problems they are facing are not insurmountable.

Despite the difficulties which have overshadowed the talks - which led energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband to proclaim earlier this week that the negotiations are failing - Mr Brown highlighted the importance of a deal being reached.

"Unless we have a solution we're going to have [our children] growing up in a world where there are floods and droughts, where there are climate change refugees and evacuees, where we have extreme weather," he said.

The prime minister added that he wanted each of the 193 countries present at the conference to be able to agree on such a deal.

If a solution is reached, he added that it is crucial each nation ensures they stick to its terms.ADNFCR-2539-ID-19515024-ADNFCR
