David Miliband will Ecological damage to the planet that will be caused by climate change is to be powerfully presented to European leaders by foreign secretary David Miliband.

The foreign secretary will use powerful imagery to describe how the world will look in the event of a global climate increase of four degrees centigrade.

Mr Miliband will speak to EU, Swedish, French and Danish leaders this week as part of the government's push to put global warming at the top of international agenda ahead of December's Copenhagen Climate Change Summit.

Talks with European leaders will be followed by a meeting in New York with foreign ministers from rich countries in an effort to draw up a treaty on controlling climate change.

A foreign office spokesman told the Guardian newspaper that Mr Miliband will paint a grim picture of the effects of climate change in an effort to "concentrate minds and draw attention to the wider implications of climate change".

Climate change is high on the agenda at present, with London councils recently announcing new targets to cut carbon emissions in the capital by 20.12 per cent over the next three years.ADNFCR-2539-ID-19349996-ADNFCR
