Energy saving expert 'awaiting clarity' on government funding

Energy saving expert An energy saving expert has demanded the government act fast to clarify whether it would make good on its promise to invest £400 million in renewable resources.

Jemma Robinson, communications manager at the Renewable Energy Association (REA) said the organisation is "still awaiting clarity" on the European Investment Bank money.

The funds were earmarked for investment in renewable energy in this year's budget, and the secretary of state for energy and climate change Ed Miliband indicated that clarity on the issue should come this autumn, Ms Robinson explained.

She made the comments after the Department of Energy and Climate Change said an extra £20 million of government funding would be made available for energy saving companies.

While she voiced concerns about the European Investment Bank money, Ms Robinson was encouraged by the new announcement.

"The REA welcomes any asset that will increase the availability of finance to the renewables industry, especially for emerging technologies," she said.ADNFCR-2539-ID-19388136-ADNFCR
