Symbol savvy: organic beauty’s heroes

by Alasdair 26. January 2010 16:24
Eco-beauty expert Jen Marsden writes today that within the UK, there is currently no existing government legislation or definition that states what natural organic beauty is.

She has produced a guide to symbol savviness - how to understand which organic certification means what, and how they differ.

As she explains, we are what we put on our skin and without certification, beauty brands can dupe us into thinking that products that have potentially harmful chemicals within them are in fact natural, animal and eco friendly.

See her helpful consumer guide to the Soil Association, Demeter, Ecocert, USDA Organic, Vegan Society and others on www.biggreensmile.com, including several accreditations that guarantee no animal cruelty and protect the rights of animals.
