is likely to have been on the agenda for many Britons this spring as they get their homes ready for the summer, but such actions could also see them saving money.
According to the Money Saving Blog, sorting through all of the belongings they may have been stockpiling for months can reveal items that could be sold or re-used, in addition to clearing out the clutter.
The blog's Kathryn adds that spring is also a popular time for identifying any improvements that need to be made, which could give people the opportunity to boost the energy efficiency of their homes.
Meanwhile, the warmer weather can see homeowner making water savings, particularly as they will not need long, hot showers to warm them up as they may have in the winter.
"And you aren't using the massive amounts of water that your home require during the summer months. Springtime is a cheap time as far as water around the house goes," says Kathryn.
The Times earlier reported that spring means there are no more excuses to put off tidying.
