People encouraged to live in green homes

People in the UK can take immediate steps to ensure they live in green homes, according to a price comparison site.

Confused.com stated that greater energy efficiency in the home would help to reduce a person's carbon footprint.

It has therefore suggested that consumers contact their local authority to see if they are eligible for grants to install green features such as cavity wall insulation.

Britons were also encouraged to look at energy saving and cutting the amount of power they consume.

"Everything takes time, but everyone can make an immediate start by making some changes now," it commented.

Confused.com's advice coincides with similar suggestions from uSwitch, which said consumers could "help themselves today" by cutting down on the amount of energy they use.

Of course, we can always go further to ensure our impact on the environment is as low as we can make it.

Measures including buying eco products, such as chemical-free toiletries and cleaners, could play another part in helping to protect the environment.
