One of our favourite natural beauty brands, Weleda, is celebrating its 90th birthday this year.
The brand is marking the occasion by deciding to become greener than ever, according to The Ecologist website.
Bosses have decided they will make sure all products are at least 80% organic by 2014, and they’re also bringing in a new corporate social responsibility strategy based around green issues.
Jane Sterland, marketing manager at Weleda UK, told The Ecologist: “The most important thing, and the thing which makes Weleda so unique, is that our business is founded on the basis of respect, love and responsibility towards nature and human beings, which has been characteristic of our activities since 1921.”
The company is planning to tackle problems including water use, ethical procurement and the amount of carbon created in the production of products.
“This is at our core, in our very DNA if you like,” said Jane. “In this regard, Weleda can be seen as a pioneer of sustainability.”
